Unlike several other tablet-designed devices encountered so far, the Apple iPad does not run a traditional operating system (OS) like the Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows. Instead, Apple has made use of a mobile version of the OS X from its unarguably fastest-growing and most successful product – the iPhone.
It is quite apparent that the iPhone OS in the iPad goes a long way in distinguishing it from others in the competition. In a market where iPad alternatives are launched in hundreds every week claiming all possible sorts of added features and advantages, the iPad remains the only tablet-computer that has got an access to the App Store.
The iPhone OS appears like a perfect fit for the iPad in several instances. For example, there are no chances of a traditional computer headache such as files scattered all over your desktop, trying to work out a feasible place for putting your downloaded image, installing extra drivers for third party hardware. Instead, with iPhone OS on your iPad, all the apps are well laid out, arranged in the form of nickel-size icons inside a grid, each of which is sensitive to touch. Whenever you download any email or image from a site, it is sure to emerge in the photo library immediately. In case you wish to make a search result for anything – an email, photo, web page, or song, all you need to do is double-click the Home button to bring up the Spotlight feature that will make a search for nearly everything stored in the device. In the iPad, there is no organizational metaphor of folders, and the result is a feeling of liberation while managing all your work.
Most users are bound to appreciate this reliability and simplicity of the iPhone OS, especially when they compare it to a conventional, inexpensive personal computer. Some, however, may disagree with this and consider the totalitarian control of Apple over its iPad’s OS suffocating.
On January 27, 2010, Apple Computer’s CEO Steve Jobs finally announced the release of the much rumored first tablet device called the iPad during his keynote speech. When I saw it my first impression was “It is a huge iPod Touch!”
Goodness, I was so wrong when Steve started discussing the features and its capabilities. Definitely the display area is larger in comparison to the iPhone/iPod Touch’s. It is actually more than twice, measuring 9.7 inch with 1,024 x 768 resolutions. Also it is really bright.
The iPad supports multi-touch (of course!) so if you already have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you know how to use 90% of the features! Also, it can run most of Apps that you previously purchased through the iTunes store.
iPad runs very fast because it uses the new CPU called A4. If you remember the speed difference between the iPhone 3G and the newer iPhone 3Gs, then you are going to love the iPad because it runs much faster than that upgrade.
The larger display area has the “almost” full size software keyboard feature so you can use this device like a laptop computer. Naturally, Apple is going to release their business application suites such as iWork which includes “Pages,” “Numbers,” “Keynote,” etc.
How about the prices?
As you know, Apple is famous for having expensive gadgets. But because of the recent successes with price reduction of the iPhones and iPods, it was rumored that it would be just under $1,000. Think again. It comes in lower than that. The base model starts at $499 with 32Giga bytes of storage and wifi. (Cheaper than the original iPhone!) The most expensive model priced at $829 has 64Giga bytes of storage with 3G.
Now the best news, there are several ways to get the iPad for $0.00 (yes, it’s FREE.)
How?
Currently there are several programs, contests and surveys are being offered in exchange with a free iPad. These are offered by third party sponsors and companies. You just need to follow their instructions to be eligible for a free iPad.
The Apple iPad has just been released. Looks like a cool device, right? Like an iPhone, the screen adjusts to the phones positioning. It has crystal clear viewing capabilities for video and photos. And the touch screen… I mean wow! We’ve never really see navigation quite like this.
While this all may be true, the question is buzzing around, who is the iPad really meant for? Is there a consumer demand driving this product supply or is Apple looking to create a new demand, like they did with the iPod.
There has also been speculation that this device is simply a business move by Apple to simulate another Apple store. Hey, if you were Apple you’d probably want to have two Apple stores, right? Who wouldn’t want 50 hosted VoIP developers rushing to create the next hosted VoIP PBX app: especially if you make a small commission off each sale?
Granted, it does have a touch screen keyboard so you can at least type. But what it all comes down to is that the flashy navigation, emphasis on apps, use as a reader and major push as a multimedia device makes it seem more like a toy than a piece of machinery intended to help a professional get work done.
Now, this very may well be what Apple was going for with the iPad. Maybe they wanted to create a more superfluous device. But why create something that seems so expendable in the wake of an economic recovery?
Don’t get me wrong, I love the iPad. I love what Apple is doing with the device and the way their technology is progressing. Also, I like that the iPad has speakers and a microphone so it could potentially run a softphone or other http://www.freedomiq.com applications. But who is the iPad really meant for? Is it meant for you? Tell us what you think below.
Not too long ago, all we had was email and the internet. We’d log into AOL and send an email to Uncle Fred in Florida, or to an old friend across the country. If you had two computers, it was comparable to owning two television sets in the 1950’s! It was almost unheard of! I paid $1700 for my first “post college” computer in 1998. It was loaded with 32mb of memory, a 2 gig hard drive and a monstrous 17 inch CRT monitor that weighed 75 pounds. I retired that computer many, many years ago.
Time flies and it’s interesting to reflect back and see how much computer technology has evolved over the past 10-15 years. Now all the hype surrounds the iPad, Apple’s new tablet computer which is a morph between a laptop and a smartphone. I don’t own one…yet. I own an iPod Touch, and from what I can see so far, the iPad is the much bigger brother to the iPod Touch. The iPad runs a modified version of the iPhone Operating System and features include email, internet, music, a book reader, ability to watch videos, play games… and I mean literally board games from what I was told. The game Monopoly is just too difficult to play on the iPod Touch, but with the iPad’s larger multi-touch, LED backlight screen, it looks like the possibilities are endless.
A friend of mine said he is getting the iPad for his wife because she is home and in bed recovering from an operation. A laptop is too difficult for her to manuever. The iPad seems like a practical solution in many cases. My only concern is the virtual keyboard. I’d really have to test it out, but on the iPod Touch, it is easy to make mistakes while typing. Also, popular software programs and suites such as Microsoft Office will not run on the iPad. Microsoft has no plans to develop a version of Office for the iPad, at least as of now.
The iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone all have the ability to download apps, some are free, and some cost a few bucks. Needless to say, most are really cool! While in Arizona two weeks ago, the thermostat in the apartment was displaying in Celsius, not Fahrenheit! I had no idea what 15C was, but I knew it was freezing so I used a free and handy Temperature Converter app on my iPod Touch. It will work on any operating system because this app is actually a web app, not an app that needs to be installed. As expected, I quickly discovered that 15C was 59F!
A few weeks ago a good friend of mine, who was searching for an iPhone program to download movies, asked me; “is iPhone Magic a Scam?” In this article I intend to tell you exactly what iPhone Magic is and how it will grant you access to unlimited downloads.
There are many download programs available on the net, but iPhone Magic is by far the best one in my opinion. What makes this program so great? Well for me, I find that it’s the fastest way to find and download my favorite movies, TV shows, music, sports, and video games.
I used to use iTunes, but the problem is that you have to pay for each download. The cost of downloading the latest seasons of my favorite shows was just starting to add up! I figured that there must be a better way to go about downloading media for my phone. That’s when I did some research and got my hands on as many iPhone download programs I could.
Since I love my Apple products and I use my phone to watch movies and TV during my commute to work each day, I knew that I needed to find a download program that was reliable, easy to use, had a great selection, and most importantly, FAST downloads.
After trying out several iPhone programs, iPhone Magic stood out to me as the clear winner, not only in all the categories listed above, but also because of their awesome tech support and their no questions asked money back guarantee.
iPhone Magic has made my life so much simpler, and I can literally find any TV show and movie that I’m interested in. It will also do all the converting and quickly transfer each file over to my phone.
I recommend this program to the absolute beginner, and even to the most tech savvy person out there. iPhone Magic simply rocks!
I have several blogs that discuss some of the features and specs of the dual sim, import iPhone clones. Recently, I’ve begun getting a lot of requests for information about the “i9 iPhone.” The question refers to the CECT i9, which is a clone or knock off from the Chinese manufacturer who first introduced the extremely popular original iClone P168. This is actually an upgraded, newer model that improves upon that original. I’ll explain how in this article.
Moving From Tri Band To Quad Band: The early clones were tri bands that worked on most GSM networks. This allowed coverage for most, but not all, consumers worldwide. Later, the P168+ Plus came out that added the last 850 MHZ band, making for a quad band. The i9 is an upgrade of this model, so it covers nearly all GSM networks that use a sim card.
Adding Java: One common complaint of the original iPhone clones was that you couldn’t download additional games, applications or software. The i9 is one of the first clones to include Java 2.0 so this is no longer a problem. This phone allows for Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. There’s also tons of gaming possibilities as well.
Dual Sim Active: The older clones did have dual sim slots which allowed you to have two plans or phone numbers. Many people use this to have a talk or unlimited minute plan on one sim and a data plan on another, without being bound to a contract. However, with the old clones, you had to switch back and forth between them. This isn’t so with the i9 as both can be online at once.
Shake And Tilt: The original P168 did not have shake control or the ability to change the music and video by just shaking the phone. This feature debuted and were very successful on models like the HiPhone and the A88. The i 9 includes this feature, which most people tend to like, although some don’t see the need for it.
Up To 8GB Of Memory (Much More Than The Original): The original clones could expand to old up to 2GB. This was and still is sufficient, but for those who feel they need more memory and / or speed, this new one can hold up to 8.
Smaller And Sleeker: Many people have told me that they’d love an iPhone or one of it’s clone, but they have found the phone too large, bulky, and heavy. The new “mini” category helped answer this complaint. The 9 is in this category as it weighs only 95 grams and is also skinnier and shorter than the originals.
Nothing has been taken away from the original. This upgrade still allows for WAP web browsing, email and texting, SMS, MMS, Bluetooth, web cam, digital camera, MP3 / MP4, and FM radio, all without a contract. The quality of these phones may surprise you. The speakers are particularly good.
And, the price is still attractive. This model, even with it’s upgrades, still falls in the $100 range, with the 8GB models being a bit more.
Talking about iPhones
Today such a stuff as iPhone gains more and more spread. Hardly is there a person who doesn’t know what an iPhone is. If there are still such people, I’ll tell some words about the iPhone. It is multimedia mobile phone that enables Internet. The iPhone is designed and produced by such a famous company as Apple. The iPhone was marketed not so long ago, but it becomes more and more popular. The reason for this is clear: the iPhone has a bulk of various functions. They include the following functions: a portable media player, a camera phone, visual voicemail and text messaging. These functions also involve some Internet facilities such as web browsing, local Wi-Fi connectivity, e-mail and some others. The iPhone has the GSM standard, so it is not a surprise that it becomes world-spread. Although a lot of people say that these mobile phones are not handy at all, the users of iPhones claim that they can really provide with a lot of advantages.
Some functions of iPhones
A media player is almost the same as iPod (also the production of Apple), but there is a difference in the structure of the music library. The sections of music in the iPhone are divided more alphabetically. The iPhones can play video and the owners of the iPhones can watch movies and TV shows. It also possesses a built-in camera. However, the iPhone does not allow taking video recording, only photos. What is more, the iPhone has supports that help the owners to view, upload or e-mail photos made by the iPhone. For working with texts, the iPhone has a virtual keyboard on the touchscreen. You can also read eBooks from the iPhone. You see, there are so many functions that it is hardly possible to mention them all.
Downloading things on iPhones
But still the question remains: how to deal with all these possibilities. Is there any site that gives the iPhone-users a chance to download iPhone eBooks, movies, music, games and other things? Fortunately, there exist a great many of such sites. Some of them can have over 30 billion files and contain various types of games, a lot of music styles, a great collection of movies and up-to-date eBooks. The download sites can be for free and can be paid. Both free and paid sites have their advantages and disadvantages. So you can choose where to download iPhone eBooks, movies, music, games and other stuff.
Apple manufacturers have done it again when it comes to pleasing their customers by releasing the new device called the iPad. This device is the latest technology when it comes to one gadget that can multitask, whereby the user can watch movies, music videos and television as well.
That’s not the end to this device as the user can also surf the web, receive and send emails, play audio and also music videos as well as save pictures. The outward appearance of the device looks a lot similar to the iPhone but it’s quite different in a number of things that will be highlighted on this article about iPad app reviews.
The iPad can be said to be working almost similar to a laptop and have a design like the iPhone but it’s on another level of its own. When compared to a netbook the iPad has a thickness of about 0.5 inches and weighs around 1.5 pound therefore it’s quite light and thinner than the netbook or a laptop. Its has a 9.7 inch backlit screen for displaying purposes as well as IPS technology that comes with it.
The processor of the gadget is an A4 inbuilt 1GHz apple processor, which has the highest level in graphics. With features such as 178 degree when it comes to viewing and a 1024768 pixel in terms of resolution, the gadget is the one of a kind. iPad app reviews clearly shows how advance the technology used in creating the iPad is. With features like the iBook, notes, calendar, iTunes and a spotlight search truly this gadget does not disappoint.
Apart from downloading music on your iPhone, why not try iPhone audio book downloads? This will allow you to utilize your multi-functional new gizmo to the fullest and give you your precious time back! Imagine yourself learning a foreign language while traveling to the office and back, or enjoying the latest bestseller while working out in a gym. Combining reading with another activity is what many people have been looking forward to.
Indeed, the possibilities are endless. Since you do not have to sit and hold a book, you get all that time you would normally spend on reading as a bonus. Have a kid who does not like reading? Why not introduce audio books then? Chances are your teen will love the way a boring task transforms into an enjoyable experience.
iPhone audio book downloads are expanding in range and you can find almost all latest titles as well as all-time favorites in any genre. There are educational audio books on history, arts, foreign languages, etc. There are pure entertainment books like humor and fiction. You can also find religion and spiritual books in a downloadable form as well as business training, various tutorials, self-help books, children stories, and even TV and movie audio books.
Needless to say, an audio book takes less time to be digested than a regular hardcopy edition. Besides, many people find it easier to comprehend and memorize things when they listen to them rather than read. This way, you have a great chance to learn new things you have always been postponing due to lack of time.
iPhone audio book downloads are fast and easy! It takes just a couple of minutes to browse through the selection and pick a book of your choice to download. And though an audio book file is going to be many times bigger than a music file, it should not take too long to be downloaded. Professional and well-maintained websites ensure prompt and smooth downloading process.
As for the price, you can choose to pay per download or, in case too many titles attract your attention, you can save money by getting yourself unlimited access to iPhone audio book downloads at a one-time fee. Just make sure the website is constantly filled with lots of new titles every week.
Do not hesitate to experience the new way of “reading” books – you will love it! To learn where you can get quality iPhone audio book downloads at the lowest price, check out my blog.
While the iPad is generally meant to be a link in products from the iPhone to the MacBook Pro it has a vast number of functions that can be compared to that of the MacBook Pro. The iPad is considered a tablet PC and offers the ease of touch screen technology and portability. The MacBook Pro is considered a laptop PC and offers a bit power and functionality then the iPad while still being relatively portable.
Users of the iPhone may find that the iPad offers much of the same features as the iPad. The difference between the two being that the iPad has a much larger view area. If you are looking for a gadget that offers some basic functions of a PC such as internet, e-mail, word processing, and some applications then the iPad is perfect for you. The MacBook pro on the other hand is a fully functional PC with many more capabilities and infinitely more digital storage space. When designing the iPad I think Apple leaned a bit too much towards the iPhone.
While the size of the iPad is much more convenient to carry around then the MacBook Pro, users will notice a loss in power due to it’s smaller size. Being one of it’s major selling points, the size of the iPad has been reported to have over heating issues when exposed to direct sunlight. Most major electronics are not meant to handle the heat of direct sunlight over extended periods of time however with something like the portability of the iPad, designers should have taken this into consideration.
The MacBook Pro has been on the market for much longer then the iPad. I am sure that the MacBook Pro had it’s share of quirks when it was first produced as well. If you are thinking of adding an iPad to your gadget arsenal consider waiting till the second model comes out. This will give designers a good idea of what can be improved on and you won’t be wasting your money on a prototype model.
All in all I think at this point the macbook pro has my money. I personally own an iPhone and a laptop PC. I can’t think any reason why I would want anything in between. If the iPad operated more on level with the MacBook Pro I could definitely see the attraction to this gadget’s portability perk. Before completely putting the iPad out of mind I would like to see where Apple decides to go with it in the next few years.
