Posted by admin under Communications on Friday Oct 26, 2007

When iPhone was launched all across the globe, mobile phone users wanted to buy this particular handset along with the iPhone accessories. It is observed that this handset impressed users so successfully that they were willing to spend an exorbitant amount to buy an iPhone. More than the handset, people are looking for stylish and sleek iPhone accessories so that their handset looks attractive. Apart from adding value to the looks, the iPhone accessories perform the duty of a guard for the phone.

Interested people who are looking for reasonable iPhone accessories can easily refer to online mobile phone companies. These online mobile phone companies offer discounted iPhone handsets along with accessories. Some of these online mobile companies even offer these iPhone accessories free along with the handset.

Some of the most common accessories provided along with the handset are batteries, Bluetooth wireless iPhone headset, car kits, cases, screen protector, headphones etc. Every iPhone accessory helps in providing comfort to the user and this makes the iPhone a luxurious handset. It is observed that one of the most popular iPhone accessories owned by almost all iPhone owners is a set of headphones. Until recently, many people tried using third party headphone jacks, but they were found unsuitable for the iPhone. Nowadays, the iPhone owners have a wider selection of headphones to choose from for their handset.Depending on your personal taste, the reason for connecting your iPhone with headphones varies from one person to another. So, when planning to buy headphones for your iPhone, ensure that they are compatible especially the jack connection. There are important factors to look forward to like the ability to switch between calls with the headphones. There are some iPhone models that require an additional adapter, for which you need to pay an extra expense of around $50.

The next other important factors to consider have been listed below when planning to purchase the headphones of iPhone include-

Whether they have a built in microphone. If you wish to use them for making and receiving calls and not just for media purposes. The sound quality should be superior. Mobile phone users are of the opinion that the headphones of iPhone aren?t really terrible with their quality but they aren’t also great at blocking ambient sounds. If you are going to purchase an additional set of headphones, you need to ensure that you cater to the above mentioned criteria otherwise it’s a complete waste.

And then it comes down to personal choice as to which kind of headphones do you prefer to use with your iPhone. Whether you prefer over the ear or in the ear headphones, it is completely your personal preference. Many people have said that although over the ear headphones are little uncomfortable, they have better capacity for blocking ambient sounds. In fact in many cases, they are able to provide a better sound quality.

After you have purchased your headphones, you need to keep up with their maintenance.

Apple iPad is something new with much anticipation from most reviews. One of the target areas is it will be a replacement for the Kindle reader, and your phone. With this in mind apple is hoping to create a space for the iPad between your smart phone and your home computer.

The iPad weighs 1.5 pounds and is7.47 inches wide and 9.56 inches tall, it is not your phone size and when holding it for long periods it does become heavy.

iPad has a 9.7 inch captive touch screen and technology for above average viewing angles, with a maximum resolution of 1024×768. The Apple processor is a 1GHz A4 and comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With three storage choices in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB (not overly large to my thinking) with a battery usage at 10 hours. If you are looking to have a 3G network it is in the plans to come out in May.

iPad has the same apps as an iPhone like Safari web browser, email, photos, calendar, maps, YouTube, contacts, photos, notes, and iPod already installed. Existing apps are mostly compatible with the iPad and includes App Store and iTunes store plus a new iBook store. Work is in progress to bring out new apps for the larger iPad screen and higher resolution. Downloads are like the iTunes with audio books, movies, movie rentals, TV shows, podcasts, music, and iTunes. Some of the drawbacks are it is not light to hold for long periods. You have no multitasking or camera for video conferencing, and the keyboard is not as responsive as you would want.

Aside from these few things it has a fast response time, great screen resolution, and a great reader that is more like reading the book than digital. Time will tell if people are willing to buy another device between a smart phone and a book reader. With the touch screen and the high resolution you will be able to see animations with the text and enjoy the reading experience with younger children. If enough people are willing to pay the price for a better reader it may find its hold in the market and place pressure on Kindle readers, so what is going to be next in the reader wars?

If you are like me with a smart phone, home computer and a laptop where is this going to fit into your plans? Do we need the newest device to show and say we have one or is it truly worth the cost. If you have your laptop already (as of now you cannot do video conferencing) you are not going to replace it with the iPad if you need some of the features it does not have, but are promised to come later. But if it fills your needs for a reader and all of its apps it does look like it can be a good buy for you. And we feel it will take away a lot of sales from kindle readers because it is so versatile. But most of all the display gives you a great view and makes reading very easy.

In our opinion Apple Ipad wins hands down over amazons kindle.

I’m starting to get emails about the “i9 F003″ phone and there is no doubt in my mind as to why this is happening.? When a new iPhone clone comes out, some sellers will use some of the names of the most popular clones at that time to get “hits” or attention to the listings of the new clones or models.? So by sticking i9 onto the name of the new F003, there’s an implication that this is another version of the 9, which isn’t entirely the case.

Yes, both of these are iPhone clones and both look and function in a somewhat similar fashion.? However, these are not the same phone or even a progression of the same phone.? In the following article, I hope to compare both of these phones to show you that in fact there is some key differences that are likely to impact or to help you to determine which of these you actually want.

What The i9 And The F003 Share:? If you hold up these two phones next to each other, you would pretty much be looking at two iPhone clones that are easily recognizable by their oversized touch screens, their appearance, their menu and welcome screens, and their interface.

Even if you began scrolling along and exploring the options on these phones, you would have a relatively similar experience because both of these are dual sim, touch screen phones that offer you: web browsing and messaging via MMS, SMS, and email; radio; Bluetooth; media (MP3 / MP4 players); and pictures (digital camera and web cam.)

Some Key Differences Between The F003 And The i9: The 9 weighs about 100 grams and has the dimensions of? 110 X 60 X 10 1/2 mm. The F003 weighs about 10 grams more at 110.? The dimensions show that this is a somewhat larger phone.? It measures in at 115 X 50 X 15 mm.? Beyond this, the F model has the additions of WiFi and analog television, which the 9 does not have.

I suppose if you are looking for the model that is as close as possible to the current iPhone, that might just be the F model since it does have the WiFi which can save you some costs on your data.? (Note though that, just like with the iPhone, these feature will not work unless you are within an acceptable distance of a hot spot.)? But, it’s interesting that, of these two, the i9 is slightly more popular.

I believe that there are a couple of reasons for this. First, the i9 is more compact and light.? People really do like and want this.? Second, the F003 is more expensive than the 9, which these days is usually well under $100.? Both of these phones are really good ones.? Which you actually end up with is probably going to depend on what size of phone you are looking for, how much you want or need WiFi, or if having a built in television appeals to you.

I predict that the F will gain popularity over time, but it’s really hard to beat the 9.

The apple iPhone is an internet enabled, third generation GSM phone manufactured and marketed by Apple. Owing to minimal hardware, the phone lacks a real keypad; instead the multi touch screen produces a virtual one when required. The iPhone also functions as a portable media player, a camera phone an internet client. The first generation hardware included quad band GSM along with EDGE, the second generation introduced UMTS (Universal mobile telecommunications system) along with HSDPA (High sped downlink packet access), and the third generation technology brings in 7.2Mps HSPA (High speed packet access)

Apple finally announced the phone after months of waiting, speculation and rumors. The original version of the iPhone was first introduced in the United States on 29th June, 2007 before being launched worldwide. It was named as the invention of the year by Time magazine in 2007. On 17th of March, 2009, Apple Inc announced the 3.0 version of the Operating system used in iPhone and the iPod touch (which was launched on June 17th 2009). The iPhone which was unveiled on 8th June, 2009, was launched in the United States, Canada and six European countries on 19th of June , 2009, in Japan and Australia on 26th June. Taming the Corporate iPhone

Posted by admin under Communications on Wednesday Oct 3, 2007

iPhones have become the ice cream of the corporate mobility space. The wide screen and slick user interface are irresistible and the countless applications are the toppings that create innumerable “flavors” to choose from.

However, while I scream, you scream, we all may scream for iPhones, in the corporate world, they can be little more than empty calories when not properly managed. iPhones can be complicated to support and present data security concerns that must be considered.

Luckily, there are tactics available to you to ease the burden on your IT team, help your iPhone users perform at their peak, and allow you to integrate the iPhone into your mobile device offerings without undue risk. Integrated Mobile offers the following tips:

Update your Wireless Policy

While your Wireless Policy cannot physically prevent a user from downloading one of the over 100,000 applications that may or may not be appropriate for your business, it is your first line of defense helping you gain control of the countless ways that iPhone users can use (or misuse) their devices.

In addition to defining how iPhones and other devices are to be deployed, administered, and supported, your Wireless Policy should cover social networking, texting, acceptable applications, internet downloads, etc. You may also stipulate the use of a VPN whenever accessing corporate data over Wi-Fi.

Start your iPhone Users off Right

Procurement sets the stage for proper usage going forward. A new iPhone should land in the user’s hands with the plan, accessories, applications, email setup, and configuration settings outlined in your Wireless Policy. This will allow the user to start working right away and improve the chances of adherence to your Wireless Policy going forward.

Your mobile asset management team may also wish to use the Restrictions functionality available on the iPhone. Located in Settings -> General -> Restrictions, this area is protected by a passcode and enables an authorized user to prevent access to certain functionality including: YouTube, application installation, the camera, movies, etc.

Secure your iPhones

As with all mobile devices, security is extremely important. The iPhone 3GS protects data by encrypting information in transmission, at rest on the device, and when backed up to iTunes. Other features and settings can help prevent unauthorized use of the device.

- Take advantage of the Passcode Lock functionality -

Whenever the device’s display locks, whether due to Auto-Lock or the iPhone Sleep button, Passcode Lock requires a four-digit code to be entered before the device can be accessed again. The Passcode Lock configuration area also has an Erase Data option, which enables a complete wipe of your iPhone after 10 failed passcode attempts. This functionality can be used to guard against data loss in the event of a lost or stolen phone.

- Be careful with Wi-Fi -

While the iPhone lets you connect to high-speed wireless networks for faster Web browsing and better data coverage, employing Wi-Fi networks without taking the proper security precautions can leave the device open to hackers. Only connect to Wi-Fi networks using Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) or another wireless security protocol. (You should be prompted for a password when you connect.) Then, to ensure that you don’t unknowingly connect to Wi-Fi networks while on the go, you should enable the iPhone’s Ask to Join Networks function.

- Connect to your Organization’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) -

VPNs use an encrypted Internet connection that acts as a secure “tunnel” for data. They are often used within organizations to enable users to securely access the company’s network behind a firewall.

The iPhone supports VPNs that use the L2TP, PPTP, Cisco IPSec, and a number of other VPN protocols, and it works over both Wi-Fi and cellular data network connections.

To configure your iPhone’s VPN, go to Settings -> General -> Network -> VPN and then choose “Add VPN Configuration”. Ask your network administrator which settings to use. In most cases, if you’ve set up a similar VPN on your computer, you can use the same VPN settings for your device.

- Access your email securely -

Many companies use Microsoft Exchange Server, which enforces its security protocols through the iPhone. With the introduction of Lotus iNotes ultralite, Lotus Notes users can also securely receive their corporate mail via the iPhone.

For web mail, check your iPhone email settings to make sure you are using secure sockets layer (SSL) which encrypts mail that is sent and received via the device. Or, access your email portal through Safari using SSL. Use https instead of http and check for the image of the lock at the bottom of the screen.

- Optimize your Safari Browser Security Settings -

Most iPhone Safari security settings are turned on by default but can be modified by clicking the iPhone Settings icon and then scrolling down and selecting Safari. Make sure that the Block Pop-ups button is switched to “On”. Then, check your Safari cookies settings. By default, the iPhone Safari Accept Cookies function is set to “From Visited”, but you may want to disable cookies completely by selecting “Never”.

Support your iPhone Users

Although the iPhone OS is comparatively stable and the interface is user-friendly, issues and questions will arise. The last thing you need is an iPhone user who cannot be productive because they are on hold with Apple or are unable to obtain support.

To keep your mobile users performing at their peak, make sure that you have resources on-hand to answer questions, resolve issues, and fix or replace broken devices. Whether you hire internal IT staff or outsource to the mobility specialists at Integrated Mobile, quality support is key to a productive mobile workforce.

Remote Administration

Your mobile workforce is, by definition, mobile. This can present challenges for those responsible for securing and configuring devices for remote users. Data may also need to be remotely wiped from lost or stolen devices.

A number of companies such as Good Technologies, Sybase, Dell, and Apple themselves have developed remote administration solutions for iPhones. Costs and feature-sets vary widely. Consult the experts at Integrated Mobile to determine which solution best meets your organization’s needs.
